What to Wear for a West Coast Swing Competition

Read the current clothing rules for your particular organiser, event and division before buying. Ask about anything unclear. Clothes that suit a social may not meet a specific competition dress code.

Read the current rules for your actual entry

Start with the competition’s own current rules, division information and organiser guidance. Do not use a general social-dance outfit article as confirmation that a garment is permitted. Requirements can differ by event and category, and the organiser is the appropriate source for an unclear condition.

Check the clothing wording before buying. Look for any stated requirements that apply to your entry and ask a specific question if the planned outfit remains uncertain. Keep the event’s information with your preparation notes so you can refer to it again.

Test the outfit you will actually use

Once you know the requirements, assess the complete outfit through familiar practice. Check hems, sleeves, waistband comfort and details that need repeated adjustment. A garment being comfortable does not by itself establish rule compliance, and a permitted garment still needs to fit you well.

Our store’s tees and layers can be considered for travel, practice or another setting where they meet the relevant guidance. We do not certify them as competition-approved clothing. If you need a specialist competition piece, choose a retailer that provides the actual garment details, then check those details against the organiser’s current requirements.
