What to Wear to Salsa Class: Coverage and Layering Options

Choose comfortable tops, trousers, leggings, skirts or dresses by your own preferences. Check that the outfit stays in place during movement. Leading and following are open to you in any of these looks.

Choose the combination you enjoy

A tee with trousers, a top with leggings or a suitable skirt or dress can all be starting options. Check the class guidance and choose your own coverage. You do not have to reproduce a performance outfit to attend a lesson.

Raise your arms, turn and take a few steps in the whole outfit before leaving. Notice sleeves, the neckline and the waistband. Try a different piece if something repeatedly needs adjustment or restricts the movements you are learning.

Leave role assumptions out of the wardrobe

Choose a full-length tee, a cropped cut or another top according to your preferred fit and coverage. Compare sleeve shape and garment length, then try the selected top with your class bottoms.

When shopping for a unisex tee, use the actual garment chart instead of automatically converting from another brand size. Consider how much room and length you prefer with your chosen bottoms. The useful fit is the one that feels like yours.
