RoleRotation is a social dance movement and philosophy founded by Felipe y Tiago. It’s based on a simple but powerful idea: in partner dancing, any person should be free to lead, follow, or rotate/switch – regardless of gender, body, or background.
The Problem It Solves
Traditional social dancing assigns roles by gender: men lead, women follow. This binary system excludes a lot of people and dancers, limits creative expression, and reinforces gender stereotypes on the dance floor. RoleRotation was created to change that.
The Three Values
The RoleRotation movement stands on three core values:
- Respect – for your partner, for the music, for the community
- Equality – every dancer deserves the same access to all roles
- Freedom – to express yourself, to choose your role, to dance your way
More Than a Dance Style
RoleRotation is not just about dance techniques – it’s a world wide communities movement. It includes the RoleRotation Academy (an online school for role-free social dancing), the Terra Livre Dance Festival (an international event in Spain), and the RoleRotation Store (merch for dancers who stand for equality).
