Try sitting, stepping, bending and turning in your intended pair. Jeans with sufficient give may work for you; restrictive or heavy ones may feel uncomfortable. Let the movement test guide your choice.
Test the waistband and legs
Before deciding whether jeans suit your session, try the actual pair. Take steps in several directions, sit down and make a comfortable turn. Notice whether the waistband pinches or the fabric pulls when you move. A familiar pair that feels fine for walking may behave differently in class.
Fabric weight and the amount of give can vary between jeans. Avoid treating denim as a single uniform material. If your pair feels restrictive or too warm for the evening, choose different bottoms you already find comfortable.
Choose the top as part of the outfit
Try the jeans with your intended tee, including the way you plan to tuck or leave it untucked. Raise your arms and check where the hem meets the waistband. Consider pockets, belts and other details during partner contact.
You do not need to purchase specialist trousers before a first class. Our current range can supply a top or layer, while you assess the bottoms that suit you. For footwear, follow your school guidance rather than infer suitability from the jeans.
