You may be able to wear jeans for West Coast Swing when the pair feels comfortable and meets the class or event guidance. Check your own waistband, seams and hem through familiar movements before deciding.
Judge the pair, not denim as a category
Jeans vary in cut, fabric and how much room they provide. Try the actual pair with familiar steps and comfortable changes of direction. Check whether the waistband pinches, seams pull or fabric limits the movement you normally use in class.
Look at the hem with your intended shoes. It should not trail underfoot. Inspect rigid pocket contents and protruding details, and follow any clothing or footwear instructions from the school. A pair that looks relaxed in a photograph may still fit tightly when you move.
Build the rest of the outfit around comfort
Choose a top that sits comfortably with the waistband. You may prefer a conventional tee over it or a cropped cut with a higher rise. Check the full outfit rather than assume the pieces will behave the same together as they do separately.
If your jeans distract you during a simple test, choose another pair of bottoms you own before class. Buying a dance tee will not solve restricted trousers. Our store tops offer optional designs for an outfit that already works, with model-specific measurements to help compare fit.
